Estas altera\u00e7\u00f5es englobam n\u00e3o s\u00f3 o aumento das temperaturas m\u00e9dias, conhecido como aquecimento global, mas tamb\u00e9m fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos, altera\u00e7\u00f5es nas popula\u00e7\u00f5es e habitats da vida selvagem, subida do n\u00edvel do mar e muitos outros efeitos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para compreender a gravidade da quest\u00e3o:<strong> <\/strong>o mundo s\u00f3 disp\u00f5e de um quinto do seu \"or\u00e7amento de carbono\" (o total \u00e9 de 2,8 trili\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas) para evitar que a Terra aque\u00e7a mais de 1,5 graus Celsius.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Todos os sectores da economia global, desde a ind\u00fastria transformadora \u00e0 agricultura, passando pelos transportes e pela produ\u00e7\u00e3o de energia, contribuem com gases com efeito de estufa para a atmosfera.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A boa not\u00edcia \u00e9 que as tecnologias para reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de gases com efeito de estufa j\u00e1 existem: substituir os combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis por fontes renov\u00e1veis, aumentar a efici\u00eancia energ\u00e9tica e desincentivar as emiss\u00f5es de carbono atrav\u00e9s da fixa\u00e7\u00e3o de um pre\u00e7o para as mesmas.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os incentivos corretos poderiam levar o mundo a atingir at\u00e9 um ter\u00e7o das redu\u00e7\u00f5es de carbono necess\u00e1rias at\u00e9 2030. As vias para limitar o aumento da temperatura global a 1,5 ou 2 graus Celsius, tal como previsto pelo IPCC (Painel Intergovernamental sobre as Altera\u00e7\u00f5es Clim\u00e1ticas), dependem em parte da ado\u00e7\u00e3o de m\u00e9todos de extra\u00e7\u00e3o de CO2 da atmosfera.
